'Roseville' 157 Llangothlin Rd, Guyra

Roseville has had five owners since 1910, with the Georgian-style farmhouse believed to have been built around 1880. The magnificent pine trees lining the front fence have stood here since the early days of the property and remain one of its most recognisable features.
The sunken garden was created by former owner Geoff Kane around 1990, and many of the mature trees throughout the grounds were planted during his time at Roseville.
Over the past 15 years, Tony Duke has continued to develop and enhance the gardens, expanding the landscape and establishing two orchards containing cherries, apples and peaches. He has also planted thousands of bulbs throughout the garden beds, along with roses, irises, dahlias, japonicas, daphne and erica, creating year-round colour and interest.
The gardens thrive in rich basalt soil, improved over many years with organic mulch sourced from the property and recycled green waste from the Armidale region. This mulch helps retain moisture, suppress weeds and improve soil health, reducing weeding requirements by up to 90 per cent.
Roseville is fortunate to have a natural spring running through the property and a well that draws water from a depth of approximately 60 feet. During wetter months, excess water is pumped into storage tanks, providing a valuable reserve during dry periods.
Today, Roseville begins a new chapter with Jaime Garrick and Tony's daughter, Suzy, now calling the property home. Although Tony has officially handed over the keys, he remains very much a part of Roseville, continuing to share his knowledge, experience and passion for the gardens. Together, they are committed to preserving the beauty and character of the property while maintaining the high standards that have been established over the past 15 years And, of course, there are now a few Highland cows joining the Roseville story as well.

"Binna Burra"

Binna Burra” was a cow paddock with only three trees when Julie and Kerry purchased the two and a half acre block in 1988. Over the decades it has been lovingly planted with a variety of beautiful deciduous and evergreen trees, hundreds of roses, rhododendrons, camellias, wisteria, azaleas, English buxus and the borders are filled with a variety of perennials and bulbs. Hence providing year round colour. The garden has numerous structures including dry stone walls and steps, wrought iron sculptures, old farm machinery, trellises, screens, gazebos, water features, sheds made from recycled materials and pots are strategically placed around the garden to add interest and colour. Julie has a special interest in rhododendrons, English box hedges and topiaries. She also loves old rustic collectibles that she can use in her garden. This is certainly a must see garden. A real treasure!
